The final co-op event in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U can look daunting. In this event you are expected to beat every character in the game’s base roster with only one stock. However, with the right strategy it can actually be fairly easy, even on hard mode. With any luck you should be able to beat this challenge easily on hard mode using the following strategy:
What character should you use?
You and your partner should both pick Ike. However, just using the base Ike will not be enough to make this challenge easy. Instead, you should turn on custom characters and use the same custom loadout for both Ikes. For this loadout custom moves don’t really matter, but you probably don’t want to change your side special attack since the default one could come in handy. Instead, focus on the equipment.
The equipment that you will use will of course depend on what you have unlocked, but your ideal loadout should look like this:
- KO Healer Sword (or some other healing equipment, though not having this will likely make the event much harder)
- Legendary Sword (or whatever your best damage increasing equipment is)
- Legendary Sword (or whatever your best damage increasing equipment is)
What is the strategy?
Using this equipment, Ike will get KO’d very easily by your opponents. You want to avoid getting hit at all costs, though it inevitably will happen many times as you fight the entire cast. The KO Healer Sword heals a relatively high amount of percentage, so if you play carefully you will be able to keep both Ikes’ percentage near zero. Make sure both Ikes get to KO the enemies, or one of your Ikes will end up with high percentage and more than likely get KO’d, making the event much more difficult for the remaining Ike.
The moves you will primarily use are forward smash and up smash. Forward smash will be able to KO most of the cast in one hit. Up smash will generally take two or three hits, but it has far greater range. Your opponents will often approach you from above and, if you are charging a smash attack, will air dodge in anticipation, If you wait for their air dodge to end you should be able to catch them and hit them with a powerful attack. Sometimes you will be able to hit enemies moments after they spawn if you charge smash attacks while on the platforms.
Characters to look out for are any characters with counters. The majority of Fire Emblem characters, for example, have this ability. Especially since you will be using such powerful moves, getting countered can be quite devastating, as if you had been hit by your move instead.
Also make sure you aren’t getting hit too much at the start, since you are spawned in a somewhat unfavorable position that can lead to getting hit many times. Avoiding this will make the rest of the event much easier.
Hopefully this guide has helped you beat this final co-op event in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
